Everything here is shared: anyone who can open the page can change it, and changes are live for everybody straight away. There is no separate save-and-publish step.
Click any cell in the Notes column and it becomes an editor. Type as you would anywhere else: ⌘/Ctrl+B for bold, I for italic, U for underline, and K to turn selected text into a link — or use the small buttons above the box. Enter starts a new note item; one line is one item.
Save (or ⌘/Ctrl+Enter) writes it; Cancel or Esc backs out. Opening the editor re-reads the note first, so two people editing different days can't overwrite each other. Pasting brings the words in without the fonts and colours of wherever they came from.
A thin dark-red bar down the left of a cell means that note was edited in the last 48 hours. It starts at full strength and fades to nothing as it ages out, so it shows what has moved recently. Hovering the cell says how long ago.
Every save is backed up first, and the notes are also written into
claude.md, which is the file of record for the trip.
When something outgrows a Notes cell — a packing list, how the train booking works, a restaurant round-up — make it a Section. Sections are listed on the line under the title and get their own page. Use the Sections link to see them all or start a new one.
backups/, so a
deletion can be undone by hand. The Finances page records group purchases and keeps a running tab. For each purchase, give a short description, what it cost, who paid, and who took part — the eight of us are buttons, with all and none shortcuts.
Whoever paid is credited the whole amount; everyone named splits it evenly. Everyone starts ticked except Hildegard — tick her when she's in on one.
Dinners and booze. Tick dinner on any purchase and a third of it is treated as booze, charged to whichever of Than, Reinhard and Pete were on that purchase; the rest is split over everyone on it. Nobody who wasn't listed pays anything either way. You can go down the list ticking boxes and watch the tab move as you go. The account for booze toggle at the top of the list turns the whole rule off — with it off, the dinner ticks are ignored and everything splits evenly.
Everything is settled in euros, but the amounts that matter — each person's balance, each couple's net, and the payments at the end — also show a dollar figure underneath, at the day's rate. The rate is named at the top of the tab.
The tab shows each person's total paid, their share, and where they stand: positive means the group owes you, negative means you owe the group.
Settling up works by couple, not by person — Pete & Rosana, Than & Amy, Reinhard & Hildegard and Mary & Greg each settle as one. Each couple's shares are added together and one payment covers them both. The net for each household is listed, then the shortest set of payments that squares everybody up.
Purchases are listed oldest first. Click any column heading to sort by it — Amount, Paid by, whatever — and click the same heading again to reverse it. It's just a view; a reload comes back to the date order.
Amounts are in euros — 42.50, 42,50 and €42.50 all work.
Paid in dollars? Put a $ in front and it is converted at the day's rate, which is
shown under the box; the row then displays what you typed and the rate used, so it can be checked
later. Got something wrong? edit on any row loads that purchase back into the form — change
whatever you like and save. remove deletes it outright.
updateNotes.rb pulls those across.Print the itinerary and you get the clean table — Letter, landscape, one page wide. Open route maps, the edit boxes and the hover hints are all left out.
